Wall Mount Range Hoods

Wall-mounted hoods attach directly to the wall above your cooktop, delivering maximum ventilation with minimal visual footprint. This is the most popular configuration for residential kitchens because it works with standard stovetop layouts and fits most kitchen designs. Island Range Hoods

Island hoods hang from the ceiling above a peninsula or island cooktop, drawing air downward and laterally toward ductwork in the ceiling. These are ideal for modern kitchen layouts where the cooktop is a centerpiece rather than against a wall. Island hoods require ceiling ductwork and typically have higher CFM ratings (600+) because air doesn’t have the advantage of wall-assisted draft. Under-Cabinet Range Hoods

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to duct my range hood outside, or can I use recirculating filters?

Outside ducting (ducted hoods) is more effective because they remove moisture and grease completely. Recirculating hoods filter air and return it to the kitchen — they work fine for modest cooking but aren’t ideal for heavy daily use. If outside ducting is possible, ducted is always the better choice. Most of our hoods are ducted; we can help you find recirculating options if exterior ductwork isn’t feasible.

How loud is a range hood, and does it matter?

Range hoods are rated in sones (sound levels). Most residential hoods run 3-6 sones at full speed — comparable to a refrigerator. Higher CFM hoods tend to be louder at max speed. If noise is a concern, you can always run your hood at 50% speed for normal cooking and go full power only when needed. Modern ZLINE and Forno hoods are engineered to be quieter than older models.

Can I install a range hood myself, or do I need a professional?

If you’re experienced with electrical and ductwork, a wall-mount hood is straightforward. When ordering make sure to ask for a detailed instructions. They do have them just not sent with lifts. If having delivered to a residential address, make sure you let them know the trucking company needs to let you know the day and a guesstimate of time when delivery will be.
