Fire Magic Grills

Fire Magic has been building outdoor cooking equipment in California since 1937. Their Echelon Diamond series represents the pinnacle of residential gas grills — 48-inch cooking surfaces with up to 115,000 total BTU, infrared backburners, rotisserie systems, power burners, and Magic View windows that let you monitor your cook without lifting the lid. Digital thermometers on the Diamond series give you precise temperature readouts. Available in freestanding and built-in configurations for custom outdoor kitchen islands. Blaze Grills

Blaze builds commercial-quality grills at a price point that makes outdoor kitchen builds realistic for more homeowners. Their lineup includes 32-inch, 34-inch, and 40-inch built-in and freestanding models with cast stainless steel burners, flame stabilizing grids, and removable warming racks. Blaze grills feature push-to-turn ignition and heat zone separators that let you run different temperatures across the cooking surface — sear on one side, low-and-slow on the other. The Blaze Professional series adds infrared rear burners and interior halogen lighting for evening cooks.

Built-In Grills vs Freestanding Grills

Built-in grills are designed to drop into a custom outdoor kitchen island or countertop cutout. They deliver a clean, integrated look and typically offer the most cooking surface for the footprint. Freestanding grills come on a rolling cart with side shelves and storage — ready to cook out of the box with no construction required. If you’re building a permanent outdoor kitchen with countertops and cabinetry, go built-in. If you need flexibility or aren’t ready for a full island build, freestanding gives you the same cooking performance on wheels.

Choosing the Right Grill Size

Grill size is measured by primary cooking surface area in square inches. A 32-inch grill (approx. 748 sq in) handles everyday grilling for families of 4-6. A 40-inch model (approx. 875 sq in) gives you room for larger gatherings and multi-zone cooking. Frequently Asked Questions

What’s the difference between natural gas and propane grills?

Natural gas grills connect directly to your home’s gas line — no tank refills needed. Propane grills use portable LP tanks and can be placed anywhere. Both deliver the same cooking performance. If your outdoor kitchen has a gas line run to it, natural gas is more convenient. If not, propane gives you location flexibility. Most Fire Magic and Blaze models are available in both fuel types.

Are these grills built for year-round outdoor use?

Yes. Fire Magic and Blaze grills are constructed with 304-grade stainless steel, which resists corrosion from rain, snow, humidity, and salt air. They’re designed to live outdoors permanently. For extended life, use a fitted grill cover when not in use and clean the grates and drip trays after each cook.

Kitchen remodel decision matrix: Bosch SHXM4AY55N at $749 vs this Thor HDW2401SS at $1,104. Paid more for the Thor because we were going all-Thor in the kitchen and wanted brand consistency. Not disappointed. 45 dBA is quiet but not silent — think refrigerator hum. Cleans spectacularly. Energy Star rating matters for our all-electric utility.

Replacing 15-year-old GE — no regrets

We bought our house in 2010 and the builder-grade GE hood finally gave up the ghost. Mom of 3, this dishwasher saved my sanity

When ordering make sure to ask for a detailed instructions. They do have them just not sent with lifts. If having delivered to a residential address, make sure you let them know the trucking company needs to let you know the day and a guesstimate of time when delivery will be.

Contractor recommended — now I know why

We were between Bosch, Miele, and Thor for our kitchen remodel in Austin. Espresso black matches our two-tone kitchen

We did a two-tone kitchen — white uppers, dark walnut lowers. I wanted everything below the counter to be dark. This Forno Capoliveri Espresso Black is perfect. The black isn't glossy, it's more of a semi-matte that doesn't show fingerprints. Guests always ask 'wait, your microwave is a drawer?' It's a real conversation starter. Black finish finally looks pro-grade
